Calling All Filmmakers!

Entries are open for the QPF Filmmakers Challenge, 2008!

The Queensland Poetry Festival challenges Australian filmmakers, video artists and other multimedia practitioners to produce a short work (5 minutes max) which explores the possibilities of poetic expression via audio visual technology.

Poetry is defined broadly as memorable language. Your work might be a record of a poetry performance, a video text manipulation or something entirely different. We are looking for work that displays creativity, originality and an understanding of possibilities of language.

A prize of $500 is up for grabs and the winner will be announced at the 2008 Queensland Poetry Festival (22-24 August, 2008). A selection of entries will be screened at the Poetry on the Big Screen session at QPF 2008.

The deadline for entries is Friday 20 June 2008. The entry form is now available for download.

Poem of the Week 2008: a virtual anthology on Brisbane's Citycats
After its success in 2007, the Poem of the Week Project is now calling for submissions for 2008. Submissions are invited from Queensland poets and should be original, well-crafted poems, which express something fresh about the City of Brisbane and/or its river.
Each accepted poem will be developed by 4UTV into a 30-second program to run for one week on the digital screen inside each of the ten Brisbane City Cat Ferries to a potential audience of 120,000 City Cat passengers. The project will run for a period of 6-months, starting in late March/early April 2008.
