Poem of the Week 2008: a virtual anthology on Brisbane's City Cats

After its success in 2007, the Poem of the Week Project is now calling for submissions for 2008. Submissions are invited from Queensland poets and should be original, well-crafted poems, which express something fresh about the City of Brisbane and/or its river.

Each accepted poem will be developed by 4UTV into a 30-second program to run for one week on the digital screen inside each of the ten Brisbane City Cat Ferries to a potential audience of 120,000 City Cat passengers. The project will run for a period of 6-months, starting in late March/early April 2008.

Guidelines for submissions

1. Closing date for all submissions is close of business, Friday 29 February.
2. Poems will be selected blind by project editors, Ynes Sanz & Graham Nunn.
3. Maximum of three (3) poems per poet.
4. Submissions must not have been published, won any prize, or be under consideration for any other publication or competition.
5. To be considered, poems must not be longer than 15 lines.
6. Two copies of each poem must be submitted in hardcopy with a cover letter. The cover letter must include your full name, postal address, telephone number, email address and title/s of poems. Your name must not appear anywhere on the poem. A stamped self addressed envelope must also be included.
7. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.
8. Successful poets will be required to provide a copy of their work by email.
9. Notification of results will only be possible where a stamped, self-addressed envelope has been provided. Applicants will be advised of the results by 31 March. Unsuccessful poems will not be returned.
